We provide wellness, sick, urgent, and emergency care for clients in a 30-plus mile radius and help other veterinarians in the area by taking their daytime emergencies or urgent care cases. We want to add on a second shift to provide after hour urgent care/Er for our community. We have a full in-house lab, pharmacy, ICU and Urgent care/treatment area, digital radiology/ultrasound and full surgery suite with all the equipment you need to diagnose and manage your patients. Candidate should have good bedside attitude/manner, strong communications skills, personable, customer service skills, problem solving skills, organized, detail oriented, self motivated, able to prioritize, be efficient and work in a team environment. Since this is a new position patient load is expected to run around 4 - 8 patients per day/night. Must be able to work a 9 hour shift starting at 3 pm. Must be able to attend paid mandatory CE classes, conferences and be able to participate in 1 - 2 community events per year.

This hospital was established in 1984 and has been a growing hospital since the beginning. We believe in using available technology to provide the best medicine possible. We are a progressive practice and try to provide human quality medicine for our patients while tailoring it to the client's needs and income. We have a full in house lab, ultrasound, dental machines, digital x-ray machine electrocautery unit, 2 large surgery suites, multiple full parameter monitors and anesthesia machines, isolation room, portable oxygen cage, Snyder ICU machine, 2 ICU isolettes, with facility to house up to 34 sick patients. We have a large waiting room split into two sections to divide dogs and cats. We want to extend our hours and offer urgent and emergency care out through midnight this year. We are open 7 days a week with doctors sharing weekends. The average work week is 40 - 55 hours per week. The community is supportive and we pull clients in from 30 - 50 miles away.
Community profile: The hospital is in a small town that is minutes away from several large metropolitian areas (Youngstown, Akron, Canton, Cleveland and Pittsburg). There are small manufacturing companies and smaller service companies provide jobs for the area residents. Lordstown GM plant and Delphi are within 20 minutes for additional jobs for area residents. The downtown is an active and viable environment with friendly and helpful business people. There is a community theater for those interested in musical and plays. There is a movie theater for those interested in movies. There are two country clubs and a golf course, a community center with gym facilities and pool, and several small local lakes for boating and fishing. Parks and hiking facilities are close by. The grade school and secondary schools are excellent for those individuals interested in them for children. Kent State University has a branch just outside Salem for more advanced studies. There is an active sports program and after school activities and clubs in abundance. Youngstown State University is within 15 to 20 minutes away. Cars and trucks are a big thing in our area and we have several community activities associated with them. Quaker Raceway is just outside town for the car enthusiast.
