Serves as Faculty and DVM for Parkland College's Veterinary Technology Program. Coordinates acquisition, disposition, care, and use of the live animals for the Veterinary Technology Program.
Tenure-Track Faculty teach a full-time load as per the Parkland Academic Employees (PAE) bargaining agreement. They advise and mentor students, and participate in governance of their departments and the college.
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or Veterinariae Medicinae Doctoris (VMD) degree from an American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) accredited program and licensed as a veterinarian in Illinois, or eligible for licensure within six (6) months of employment.
Knowledge and diversified work experience including three (3) years of private practice experience working in a progressive veterinary team that includes one or more certified veterinary technicians.
Experience working with live animals in a variety of species within the last three (3) years.
Must pass a criminal background check and drug test.
Maintains all professional credentials required to teach in area of discipline; meet essential qualifications to teach lecture and lab.
Ability to learn the Parkland information system and new programs as technology changes.
Knowledge of current educational methods and strategies.
Leadership and management skills.
