Vet Students are definitely people who love pets, so we feel that it is part of our purpose to make sure that students receive the best, hands on education to be found.  We are uniquely able to provide a well-rounded externship due to our wide range of cases which includes routine wellness care, acute and chronic illness, trauma cases, and a vast array of surgeries including orthopedics.

We pride ourselves on our highly trained, superior veterinary staff with over 30 years of experience. Our vets are exceptional diagnosticians, individually trained to utilize the state-of-the-art technology and equipment we boast at our facility to ensure that both our clients and their pets receive the utmost attention and care.

 What we promise you will experience during your externship 

• Systematized externship program
• Scrub into soft tissue, orthopedic and routine surgery
• Perform complete physical exams
• Develop diagnostic and therapeutic plans for patients
• Assist in the management of medical cases
• Provide wellness, urgent, and emergency care
• Develop client communication skills
• Polish your clinical/technical skills
• Experience the exciting city of San Antonio

Externship Student Expectations 

• Enrolled in an accredited DVM program and in your 4th year
• Turn in hours daily
• 8 hours shifts 5 days a week
• Turn in case load notes
• Evaluation of DVM
• Will be responsible for keeping a journal
