The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) Trust, headquartered in Schaumburg, IL, is seeking a TRUST VETERINARIAN with companion animal practice experience to join our team. The AVMA Trust provides professional liability insurance, life and disability coverage, financial services, as well as other important benefits to the 95,000+ members of the AVMA, the national not-for-profit association for veterinarians. Structured to work for its members, AVMA acts as a collective voice for its membership and for the veterinary profession. AVMA’s mission is to lead the profession by advocating for our members and advancing the science and practice of veterinary medicine to improve animal and human health.
The Trust Veterinarian will play a key role in Trust activities, including claims management, planning and administering educational programs to veterinary teams and students, and will raise the awareness of AVMA Trust insurance solutions and risk management resources. The Trust Veterinarian also serves as a veterinary resource for the Trust’s insurance providers and advocates for and supports insured members facing potential and actual claims.
The position will involve approximately 15-20% travel and be based out of the Trust’s Chicago and Schaumburg, IL offices.

Additional qualifications include:
DVM/VMD degree with a minimum of 7 years of companion animal practice experience
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
Able to work independently and as part of a team
Experience with Microsoft Office and social media
Strong public speaking skills with presentation experience
Strong time management and analytical skills
Must be able to travel as needed on behalf of the Trust
