Our beautiful campus in Boring, Oregon has an incredible opportunity for a Staff Veterinarian.  This role is part of the organization-wide team of 7 veterinarians and will act as the sole veterinarian for our Oregon campus, where your leadership and enthusiasm for our mission will guide this team. You will in our compassionate, mission-driven, and fully fear free certified AAHA- accredited veterinary hospital where supporting the human-animal bond is a top priority. We will rely on you to play a key role in ensuring medical excellence for all program dogs, including, but not limited to, dogs in training, active guides, puppies in volunteer puppy raising homes and dogs being evaluated for our breeding colony.  You will bring a love for our mission and our incredible dogs as well as innate leadership skills that will support our vision and long-term growth in this practice.   If you are looking to renew your passion for your profession in a meaningful and rewarding way, here it is!  As a final bonus - our clients and patients are always happy to see you!

Duties include:

• Providing professional veterinary care, including surgery (traditional and laparoscopic), radiology, and internal medicine
• Addressing the specialized medical and surgical needs of all program dogs, including training dogs on campus, as well as active guides and puppies across the US and Canada, K9 Buddies, and career changed dogs  
• Conferring with outside veterinarians caring for GDB dogs to ensure that recommended treatment plans are consistent with program protocols and optimal outcomes
• Consulting with foster care providers, puppy raisers, and guide dog users concerning veterinary care
• Supervising, training, and providing guidance to clinic staff and volunteers
• Writing veterinary-related articles for GDB publications

• Managing medical emergencies on campus

Qualifications:

• Oregon veterinary license and USDA license for interstate and international health certificate
• Current and renewable Drug Enforcement Agency license, Class II, IN, III, IV, V
• Willing to become Penn Hip certified and APHIS accredited within six months
• Desire to train in both laparoscopic and non-laparoscopic surgical techniques
• Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Availability for weekend rotations and/or on-call work
