Yarmouth Veterinary Center is a progressive, family-owned, 6-doctor practice started in 1986. We just completed construction on a new, 12,000sq ft facility in Cumerland Foreside, making us Maine's largest, privately-owned hospital. We are a collaborative practice that is equally committed to our well-established and new clients, and we would welcome new graduates or experienced veterinarians alike. Our primary caseload is traditional small animal but we are also the state's premiere exotic animal clinic, and welcome practitioners with experience or interested in learning more about them. Members of the team have access to top of the line dental machines and dental x-ray, digital x-ray, 2 ultrasound units, full endoscopy, surgical suites outfitted with CO2 laser and electrocautery, therapy laser, full in-house laboratory, pharmacy and more. There are no on-call or emergency hours. Full-time veterinarians receive 4 weeks PTO, health insurance that we pay 85% of premiums, dental and disability insurance offered, matching retirement contributions, wide variety of CE resources, AVMA professional liability coverage, reimbursement for DEA and state licensing, AVMA and MVMA dues, and steeply discounted veterinary care. Please submit a letter of interest and resume to zachary@yarmouthvet.com.
Drs Louise LeBoeuf and Peter Smith started Yarmouth Veterinary Center in 1986. For the first six months the practice was housecall-only, while they lived in the 1826 house on the corner of Bridge and Willow Streets in Yarmouth, Maine and converted the attached dirt-floor shed into a cozy three-and-a-half room hospital. Their first x-ray room also doubled as their living room.
A year later Louise and Peter moved out to allow their practice to take over the whole house. Then in the summer of 2000 they completed construction of what would be the hospital's home for another 24 years, just across from the beloved antique house that served them so well.
In 2018, Dr Louise and Peter's son, Dr Zach Smith joined the practice. As demand for veterinary care grew, and as more and more local clinics sold to corporations, they redoubled their commitment to proving the best possible care, and embarked on the construction of what is now the state's largest, privately-owned veterinary hospital. In 2024 we moved in to a 12,000 sq ft general practice and urgent care facility on the Cumberland Foreside.
YVC now has 7 exam rooms, 4 dental wet stations, 2 surgical suites, and 7 separate patien...t wards; and is fully equipped with dental delivery machines, digital dental x-ray, digital x-ray, 2 ultrasound machines, a full endoscopy rig, CO2 lasers and electrocautery, therapy lasers, full in-house laboratory, large pharmacy, and more.
The x-ray machine may no longer in their living room, but the practice is still home to them, and their clients and patients are the most welcome of guests.
