Overview of the Position:
The Anatomy Assistant Professor (Clinical track) participates in the delivery of lecture and laboratory material (gross- and micro-anatomy) for the Form & Function courses to first year veterinary students in the veterinary professional curriculum; assists with the preparation of all teaching materials related to the assigned teaching responsibilities; conducts scholarly activities; mentors professional and graduate students and contributes service at the department, school, and university levels.
Key Responsibilities:
- The assistant professor participates in the delivery of lecture material and the laboratory anatomy courses to first year veterinary students in the veterinary professional curriculum. (60%)
-The assistant professor assists with the preparation of all teaching materials related to the assigned teaching responsibilities. These duties include doing prosections, embalming, and maintaining specimen collection, and performing other duties as assigned (25% )
-The assistant professor mentors professional and graduate students and contributes service at the department, school, and university level. (10% )
The assistant professor conducts scholarly activities. Other duties as assigned. (5%)
Minimum Requirements:
DVM or equivalent (Applicants with a Ph.D. in a related field are encouraged to apply.)
Preferred Qualifications:
Ph.D. and 1+ years of teaching experience in gross anatomy laboratory/lecture settings

LSU Vet Med Department of Comparative Biomedical Sciences (CBS)
The Department of Comparative Biomedical Sciences emphasizes funded biomedical research and provides professional and graduate (MS/PhD) education in the areas of Cell and Molecular Biology, Veterinary Anatomy, Physiology, Pharmacology, and Clinical/Aquatic/Inhalation Toxicology. The Department conducts basic and translational research in diverse areas of biomedical sciences, including cancer biology, cardiovascular disease, developmental biology, neurosciences, pulmonary immunology, and toxicology. We seek to understand the normal regulation of physiological and cellular processes that become dysfunctional in disease states, with the goal of identifying novel approaches for therapeutic intervention.
The Department has excellent physical facilities and research laboratories, including the Inhalation Toxicology Facility, Equine Medication Surveillance Laboratory, Aquatic Toxicology Laboratory, and the Microscopy Center.
